THE HAZ VISION:

Our vision is to stimulate the active participation of Zimbabweans and friends of Zimbabwe, in a sustainable HIV/AIDS campaign, and to overcome the obstacles currently hampering effective and sustainable progress against HIV/AIDS in Zimbabwe and amongst Zimbabweans.

THE MISSION:

HIV/AIDS|ZIMBABWE CHARITY, INC., (HAZ) aims to provide Zimbabweans in Zimbabwe and the Diaspora with practical, innovative and relevant resources and skills to facilitate healthy lifestyles as well as to minimize the further spread of HIV/AIDS in Zimbabwe and in other countries in which Zimbabweans reside.  This will be achieved in partnership with stakeholders to ensure an inclusive, far-reaching and sustainable approach.

AIMS & OBJECTIVES:
  • Reduce the contribution of the current migration patterns of Zimbabweans, to the further spread of HIV/AIDS  
  • Provide a supportive environment for Zimbabweans on our forums and website, which facilitates access to multiple resources such as current information on HIV/AIDS, counseling, health and other social service systems
  • Provide current information in a way that is suitable to the learning styles of individuals, is culturally appropriate and is tailored to specific needs related to HIV/AIDS
  • Empower peers to be the agents of change in the HIV/AIDS crisis, utilizing current conventional prevention approaches and harm reduction messages
  • Form strategic Partnerships to confront the HIV/AIDS epidemic
  • Advocate on behalf of Zimbabweans worldwide through a transparent and user led ethos.

BACKGROUND:

HIV/AIDS|ZIMBABWE CHARITY, INC., (HAZ) is a grassroots organization founded by Zimbabweans who share a common desire to inspire others to take on a more aggressive role in addressing the HIV/AIDS issues affecting Zimbabwe and fellow Zimbabweans.  The HAZ parent organization is officially registered in the USA as a 501(c)(3) public charity organization (Federal EIN: 86-1163333), and in Zimbabwe as a Charitable Trust.  HAZ currently has local chapters in the USA and in Zimbabwe, and others being developed in most global locations where Zimbabweans reside. In view of the migration patterns of Zimbabweans in recent years, our organization has been designed to mitigate the brain drain of talent resulting from the exodus of professionals from Zimbabwe, by reconnecting with that same talent globally, and providing a vehicle for continued engagement from afar.  We work in strategic global partnerships with key organizations that we believe can conduct or are already conducting effective, sustainable and accountable work to mitigate the impact of HIV/AIDS on Zimbabweans.

 HIV/AIDS|ZIMBABWE (HAZ) would like to acknowledge and thank Ms Vivienne Prince, Mr. Dudzai Mushawepwere and the rest of the artists who work with ZimSculpt.com, for giving us the permission to use the image of Mr. Mushawepwere’s piece, “HIV-VIRUS” in the design of our official HAZ logo.  The logo is henceforth copyright material of HIV/AIDS|ZIMBABWE CHARITY, INC., (HAZ), and cannot be used or reproduced anywhere else, in any form, without prior written consent from HAZ, unless used with appropriate acknowledgment of HAZ.
